Today is National Dress Up Your Pet Day, the day when we're apparently supposed to make our dogs and cats look as fashionable as possible.

It was launched in 2009 by a pet lifestyle expert to support the pet fashion industry.

Translation: somebody wanted you to buy another dog sweater at Petco.

But here's the funny part. A new poll of 2,000 cat and dog owners asked what we actually WORRY about when it comes to our pets.

And apparently, looking fabulous isn't even in the top nine.

The biggest concern? How happy they are, with 53% saying they worry about that a lot.

Then it's their overall health at 52%, what they eat at 46%, whether they're anxious or stressed at 41%, and whether they're getting enough exercise at 38%.

They're also worried about their pets being lonely, bored, and whether they'd be happier with another pet around.

Meanwhile, here in Michigan, we're just trying to figure out if the dog needs a jacket because it's 48 degrees in the morning and 72 by dinner.

You put a little sweater on your dog and he looks at you like, "Seriously? I'm a Michigan dog. I've been outside in January."

And don't even get started on putting a Halloween costume on a cat.

That cat isn't wearing the costume.

You're wearing the costume.

Because the cat is going to spend the next three hours plotting your downfall from underneath the couch.

So go ahead and dress up your pet today.

Put them in a little sweater. A bow tie. A tiny Michigan hoodie.

Just remember, your pet probably doesn't care about fashion.

They care about food, attention, going outside, and figuring out why you keep leaving the house without them.
