No, Didn't Love That: Riley Green, Ella Langley, and the Art of Taking Credit

Country music drama is usually reserved for heartbreak, truck breakdowns, and whiskey, but sometimes the real tea is served on social media.

If you missed the latest round of country music chatter, here is a quick recap: on a recent episode of "The Voice", country star Riley Green was chatting with a duo of sisters and mentioned that they reminded him of Ella Langley. He went on to talk about how he brought her out on tour with him, and that now she's doing pretty well for herself.

Naturally, some fans took that as Green trying to claim some major foundational credit for her skyrocketing career. So, during a recent Instagram Live, a fan decided to go straight to the source and ask the burning question:

"When Riley took credit for your success on 'The Voice', did that rub you the wrong way?!"

Ella didn’t miss a beat with her response:

"Yeah, when that man took credit? No, didn't love that, but typical. Typical. Pretty typical."

Ouch. Short, sweet, and dripping with enough sarcasm to fill a Nashville honky-tonk.

While touring with an established artist is undeniably a massive break for any rising act, fans and artists alike clearly draw a hard line between supporting an emerging talent and trying to wear their crown. Ella has been putting in the grueling work, writing hits, and building her own powerhouse fanbase—so it is safe to say she prefers her success measured by her own talent, not someone else's highlight reel.

Looks like somebody might need a little extra time in the writers' room to rethink their stage banter!
